A unique hiking experience is being organized by Dromoi Zois on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The official announcement reads:

“Lately, we’ve been loving our getaways with a view and spectacular scenery! So we’re keeping that energy going — this time climbing the mountain of… one metre!

We’re heading to the Rethymno countryside, and from Koxare, we follow a dirt road up to Kouroupa, the mountain of ‘one metre’ (1001m)!
The view is breathtaking... Open and unobstructed in every direction — magical and impressive. The southern coastline and interior of Rethymno are right at our feet.

For those who prefer less altitude and shorter hikes, there’s a circular route up to the village koules, followed by a walk to Atsipades and then back to our base, for some cafeneio time, relaxation, and food.
Anyone from the easy group who wants to, can take the bus to the stunning nearby springs of the Kourtaliotis river (ticket required).”

• To the summit: Difficulty level 1, duration 5 hours

• To the koules and villages: Difficulty level 1, duration 2.5 hours

These excursions take place in non-urban environments, so proper shoes and clothing are necessary.
