The painting exhibition "Passage into Light" by Christos Bokoros at the Basilica of Saint Mark will be extended until June 30th, 2025, following its strong public reception since it opened on April 4th, 2025.

This remarkable show has already drawn over 25,000 visitors, including hundreds of students from across Crete who came to experience the work of an artist who doesn’t simply depict, but animates—who doesn’t just illuminate, but burns and shines from within.

The Basilica of Saint Mark is once again transformed into a spiritual space for art and reflection, where 58 works—recent and older, known and unseen—come together to form a unique narrative of initiation. These are works carefully selected and arranged specifically for the show, with the most iconic perhaps being "Opening to the Light" (270x260 cm), which dominates the centre of the sanctuary and was painted to be visible from the gallery’s entrance.

On Saturday, May 31st, curator Giorgos Mylonas will conduct four hour-long public guided tours at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, and 13:00, inviting visitors to delve deeper into the visualized memory and meanings behind the exhibition.
