On Sunday, January 18th, 2026, hikers will find themselves on the borderlands between the Rethymno and Heraklion hinterlands, exploring a stunning trail within the Psiloritis Geopark, around the villages of Chonos and Kamariotis.
Expect incredible terrain, marked by rock formations shaped like faces, objects, and patterns, along with a vibrant array of local flora. You'll be walking among Valonia oaks, kermes oaks, and carob trees, all in their seasonal prime. The route combines dirt road, footpath, and off-path segments (nopath), offering a full immersion into the wild charm of Cretan nature.
This is a hike to savour with all the senses—a trail that will fill your mind with vivid images and the scent of untamed Crete.
Duration: 4 hours – Difficulty level: 1 (easy)
Departure: From the Saturday Farmers’ Market area (Agia Anna) at 08:00, on Sunday, 18/01/2026.
These outings take place in non-urban environments, so appropriate clothing and footwear for the terrain and season are essential.
