The Karolos Kampelopoulos Foundation, “Monastery of Karolos” Museum, in collaboration with the Alekos Fassianos Museum, present the exhibition:
“Alekos Fassianos – Karolos Kampelopoulos: An Encounter in Paris”

The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 29 at 6 PM.
This initiative comes from Stella Koutsoupaki, Director of the “Monastery of Karolos” Museum, and is organised in collaboration with the Franco-Hellenic Association of Chania, with full support from the Region of Crete, the Regional Unit of Chania, the Regional Development Fund of Crete, and the Municipality of Chania.
The event is held under the auspices of the French Embassy.

The opening will be honoured by the presence of Laurence Auer, French Ambassador to Greece.
The exhibition is curated by Myrto Kontomitaki, museologist and art historian.

This is a landmark exhibition, celebrating human relationships, in a time when they are often tested. It brings to light the power of memory and shared experience, through a meeting with art that connects two creators – so different yet so aligned in their values and ideals.

The “Monastery of Karolos” Museum holds a collection that includes works by Greek artist Alekos Fassianos, a small yet meaningful part of the extensive collection gradually built by celebrity hairdresser and visual artist Karolos Kampelopoulos.

Fassianos arrived in Paris in the 1960s, where Kampelopoulos was already living. Their shared Greek roots and love for art led to their first encounter and the growth of a lasting bond.

This exhibition invites the viewer to engage in visual dialogue, to imagine, narrate or dream up a story of coexistence between two unique and creative artistic minds:
the renowned Alekos Fassianos, and the lesser-known yet undeniably gifted Karolos Kampelopoulos.
