Ziros – Xerokampos: A Lovely Path

The E4 European Path commences in Ziros and culminates in Xerokampos, a village located 20 kilometres away from Ziros. 

Just on the outskirts of the village, the trail commences in a gorge known as one of the driest gorges in Eastern Crete. In the past, this gorge served as the passage from Ziros to Xerokampos.

The journey typically spans around 4 hours, and the ascent and descent are gentle and uncomplicated. The view of the azure Libyan Sea is truly exceptional. The gorge boasts a wild, rugged beauty, characterised by towering walls and sparse vegetation.

It's worth noting that during the summer, temperatures can be exceptionally high, and there is a lack of shaded areas along the route.

You won't come across any water sources along the path, so it's important to ensure you have an adequate water supply with you.
