ABOUT
The entrance to the gorge is located just outside the village of Imbros and ends after about 8 kilometers (approximately 2 hours of walking) at the village of Komitades.
The gorge is fairly narrow (at one point only 2 meters wide!) and is lined with trees, offering shade for most of the way.
After about 90 minutes of walking from the entrance booth (or 2 hours at a slower pace), you’ll spot an impressive stone arch on your right. This is almost the end of the route. After around 15 more minutes, you reach the road and the village of Komitades, where the Exploring Creta team will be waiting for you.
From there, you can choose to visit Frangokastelo, enjoy a swim at a nearby beach, and have lunch at a local taverna. Alternatively, after visiting Frangokastelo, you can continue to Chora Sfakion for a swim and meal.
An ideal choice for families with young children and for nature-loving travelers!
