Cities & Villages

ABOUT

Keratokambos is a tranquil coastal haven for relaxation seekers.

The local inhabitants of Keratokambos primarily work as farmers but are also actively involved in the tourism industry.

Nature enthusiasts have a wealth of options for exciting excursions. They can explore the enchanting Kerakambitis River, traverse the scenic Portela Gorge, or venture through the renowned ‘Piskopis to Pidima’ (Bishop’s Leap) trail. Legend has it that a bishop, pursued by the Turks, miraculously survived after leaping across the gorge on his horse, saving himself from capture. In gratitude, the Church of Agios Georgios was erected, serving as a lasting tribute to this extraordinary event.

The musical tradition of Keratokambos is rich and vibrant, with the melodic sounds of the mandolin and violin taking centre stage. Influenced by the Sitian School of music, the local musical heritage resonates with a unique and captivating charm.
