Arvi Gorge
ABOUT
The adventure starts in the village of Arvi. Park your car there and continue on foot to the gorge’s entrance — it’s about a 20-minute walk.
According to the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion, the gorge is narrow and requires 26 rope descents (rappels) to pass through, the highest one reaching 80 metres.
It’s the only gorge in Crete with a dark section that forms a cave, with two descents running right through it. Expect to see some impressive waterfalls along the way too!
The gorge exits back into Arvi village, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim and, of course, great food at the local tavernas.
