Church of Saint Thomas
ABOUT
A prominent landmark in the village of Agios Thomas is the cathedral of the same name. It is an old basilica-style building with a cylindrical dome.
According to the website orthodoxcrete, the architectural form of the church likely emerged at the site of an early Christian structure. A Middle Byzantine building, whose remains are visible around the lower sections of the walls and the central nave, was later completely rebuilt during the early Venetian period.
