Sivas: A Village Abundant with Springs

For an authentic taste of traditional cuisine and diverse accommodation options, Sivas is the ideal destination. Experience the true essence of Cretan hospitality here!

Situated on the southwestern fringe of the Messara Plain at an altitude of 110 metres, Sivas, like many other regions in mainland Crete, is predominantly inhabited by farmers who produce exceptional goods.

Near the village (within the Pigaidakia community) lies the Holy Monastery of Panagia Odigitria.

Several explanations exist for the origin of the name, with the most common attributing it to the abundant natural springs in the area, believed to derive from the Arabic word ‘siva’, meaning spring.
