Koufos: A Village Bursting with Hues and Fragrances

Ascending towards the Omalos Plateau, approximately 5-6 kilometres into the journey, one encounters a fork leading to the village of Karanou. This picturesque village is nestled on the slope of the White Mountains, concealed amidst olive trees and vibrant green vegetation. Karanou is accessible from both the Lakki and Skines sides, with only a slight difference in time and distance.

Approximately 2-3 kilometres from Kallithea lies Chrysavgi, a quaint and picturesque village perched at an altitude of 300 metres, boasting a rich history.

Its amphitheatrical location, coupled with the enchanting olive grove featuring large centuries-old olive trees, forms a distinctive and captivating landscape.

The village features a monument honouring those who sacrificed their lives in the national liberation struggles, as well as a cultural events hall.

The village of Rodopos is renowned for its top-quality products, including olive oil, dairy, but primarily for its excellent quality thyme honey.

A few metres before reaching the entrance of Rodopos, the road diverges. To the right, it takes you, after a short distance, to a small yet exceptionally picturesque village with a breath-taking panoramic view: Aspra Nera. A few kilometres north of Aspra Nera lies another equally small and beautiful village – Astratigos.
