A major music event dedicated to the internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Theodoros Antoniou will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 21:00, in the historic setting of the Panagia Gouverniotissa Monastery in Potamies, Hersonissos.

The Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Theodoros Antoniou, alongside contemporary compositions by his students—composers whose creative paths were shaped under his mentorship.

Some of these works will be premiered during the event, composed especially for this evening, adding a distinctive, one-of-a-kind quality to the tribute.

A particularly intriguing piece has been written based on the geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the Gouverniotissa Monastery, anchoring the music to the very ground where it will be performed.

Six distinguished composers, spiritual heirs of the late Theodoros Antoniou, contribute original works to this unique summer event.
The program features pieces by:
Michalis Oikonomou, Manos Panagiotakis, Dimitris Sykias, Andreas Tselikas, Savvas Tsilingiridis, and Panagiotis Fournarakis.

The concert will be conducted by maestro Andreas Tselikas.

The event is co-organized by the Municipality of Hersonissos, the Region of Crete, and the Potamies Cultural and Development Organization “I Gouverniotissa,” with the support of the Municipality of Athens and the participation of the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra.

This tribute is part of the 2nd Festival of Arts and Culture of the Municipality of Hersonissos – Summer 2025, highlighting the richness of modern Greek musical creativity and its continuation through the work of a new generation of composers who proudly carry forward the legacy of Theodoros Antoniou.

Admission is free.
