The Municipality of Anogeia and KOINSEP N-IDAIA Synergasia proudly announce the launch of the Anogeia Center for Music and Dance Tradition.

"Honouring our rich heritage, whose roots stretch deep into the past, sharing it with the public—both Greek and international—has always been a sacred duty for the Municipality of Anogeia."

To bring this vision to life, the municipality teamed up with two key partners:

  • The Region of Crete, which funded the project through the Smart Specialisation Strategy Programme (RIS3Crete)

  • The Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCI Lab) of the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH, which embraced the concept and brought it to life using cutting-edge technology

In a fully renovated, modern space, visitors will find a range of innovative interactive exhibits that highlight the musical wealth and cultural identity of the area. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience for anyone curious about the soul of Crete.

This is a pioneering cultural hub, where visitors can explore:

  • The region’s landmarks

  • The local dialect

  • Traditional Cretan dances and music

  • The history and customs of Anogeia and its surroundings

The Center uses a narrative approach to showcase how people, traditions, and the natural environment are deeply connected through music and dance. It’s a powerful way to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Anogeia to the world.

The Municipality extends heartfelt thanks to all community members who contributed their knowledge and experience to help shape this new space.
