The Cultural and Folklore Association of Mochos "I PROODOS", with the support of the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Hersonissos, invites you to the 1st Festival for the Promotion of Cultural Heritage "Memories and Tradition", which will take place from August 8 to 10, 2025, in Mochos. The festival aims to preserve and showcase the village’s rich cultural heritage through a series of events celebrating its traditions and music.

August 8, 2025

Opening of the Photography Exhibition "Weddings in Mochos"
The exhibition will be hosted at the New Cultural Centre of Mochos Parish, offering visitors a glimpse into the past through photographs capturing traditional wedding ceremonies in Mochos. These images highlight the customs, habits, and traditions that once formed an integral part of local life.
(Exhibition runs from August 8 to 15, 18:00–20:00)

Opening of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Mochos at 20:00
The museum opens its doors to the public, offering a journey into Mochos' past. Through exhibits of daily life, traditional crafts, rural heritage, and folklore, visitors will explore cultural elements that remain a core part of the local identity.

August 10, 2025

10:00 – "Let’s Make Our Village More Colourful…"
A volunteer painting activity for children at the village entrance.

21:00 – "Bring Your Sklouteliko and Join the Fun…"
A traditional Mochos celebration with local musicians at the square of the former Mochos Community Hall.

The festival will wrap up with an authentic Cretan feast, featuring live music, dance, and local flavours, all brought to life by musicians from the village.
