The Cultural Association of Katalagari is organising a special open-air painting exhibition on Saturday, 27 September 2025, at 19:00, on Labyrinthou Street in Katalagari, under the title:
"Memory and Inspiration – When History Becomes Art".

"Guided by the philosophy and aims of our Association, which focus on understanding and sharing History, we are hosting this event thanks to the generous contribution of local artist Sophia Fafoutaki. Her work, inspired by Minoan Civilization and especially Minoan rings, creates a bridge between past and present. These paintings, recently donated to our Association, will be presented to the public for the first time through this exhibition," the organisers say.

They describe the evening as a journey through time, where History meets Art.

The evening will open with a talk by Michalis Spyridakis, Digital Cartographer and Environmentalist at the Heraklion Ephorate of Antiquities, titled:
"From the Symbolism of Minos’ Ring to the Origins of the Myth of the Abduction of Europa – From the Religion of Nature to the Polytheism of the Mycenaeans."

There will be a dedicated presentation of the artist's work, followed by an introduction to the exhibition by Sophia Fafoutaki herself.

The event will be accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Heraklion, performing works by major Greek composers, lending the evening a distinctive artistic atmosphere.

The night will close with refreshments offered by the Association.

Admission is free, inviting everyone to "travel through history and discover how memory transforms into inspiration and art."
