Hiking with a Wood Carving Workshop!

Adventure & Action

Something a little different is planned by the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

In their announcement, they share the following:

We will set off from the Tourkises area, following the old pre-Minoan path, a route with a history stretching back thousands of years, cutting through dense pine forest. Our goal is the Korakia peak, reached via the stream and the sinkhole at Pinakas, where a dam was once planned. From there, we continue along a dirt road to Kathario Lakko, where the view rewards every step.

The return will be via a descent from the foothills of Xenogiorgis, ending in the Kynigos area.

After the hike, those who wish can join a relaxed wood carving workshop, guided by Nikos Manesis and Nikos Apostolakis, where we will try basic techniques and create our own small piece. The invitation is also open to members who will not take part in the hike.

Those interested can join at Kroustas, at the location Peukalidia, at 13:00.
