On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos (EOS Agios Nikolaos) is organising a circular hike in the southwest area of Ierapetra.
We’ll follow the path through Sarakina Gorge, known for its flowing waters and little waterfalls, before climbing up to the charming village of Christos through the bed of the Psorias River. From there, we’ll walk 3 km of asphalt road to reach Metaxochori, and then return via dirt track and a Minoan path all the way to Mithoi.
If you prefer a shorter version, there’s the option to return right after crossing Sarakina.

HIKING TIME: 4 to 6 hours (excluding necessary breaks)
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 1/1+
ELEVATION GAIN: 450 m
DISTANCE: Around 15 km
LEADER – INFO: Sofia Sidiropoulou (tel. 6934668294)
