Hike the Ano Asites – Gyristi – Koudouni Route on Foot!
ABOUT
While passing through the village, we come across the trail markers for the E4 European Path, distinguished by their yellow and black colour scheme. A cement road then guides us through enclosed fields, leading us to the entrance of a small yet ascending gorge, aptly named Farangouli (Little Gorge). After nearly 2 hours, we reach the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion shelter.
The summit of Gyristi stands at an altitude of 1,780 metres and offers splendid vistas of Heraklion.
Ninety minutes into the hike, you'll reach the next peak, Koudouni, which is at an elevation of 1,860 metres. From here, you'll enjoy views of Chalasokefala to the south and Psiloritis to the west.
The tip of Local!
Visitors will discover significant caves in the region, including Kynigospilios, Farangi within the Agios Antonios Gorge, Agios Charalambos in Vathia, and Siderospilia at the location of the same name.
