Vaulted Tomb in Stylos
ABOUT
In the westernmost part of Azoires Hill, situated to the south of Aptera and east of the provincial road leading to the modern village of Stylos, Apokoronas, you can find a vaulted tomb.
According to the Ministry of Culture, following the recommendation of a private individual, the tomb was excavated in 1961 by N Platonas and K Davaras. This monumental vaulted tomb belonged to a local ruler of the area, featuring a circular stone-built chamber and an extensive constructed road.
The tomb opened to the public in 1970 when K Davaras explored its 20.80-metre-long stone road, and the surviving part of the entrance barrier was removed.
