Folklore and Geological Museum of Zaros
ABOUT
In the Folklore Museum, located in the basement of the manor house, you'll find household items and hand-crafted tools once used in everyday life. Most of them were handmade by the families themselves, to meet their practical needs.
Upstairs, in the “ontas” (1st floor), is the Geological Museum, home to a truly impressive collection—one of the most beautiful in the world. The entire collection was generously donated by geologist Mr. Nikos Albantakis to the Pancretan Folklore Association.
There are over 550 samples of rocks, minerals, and their by-products on display, including the most renowned marbles of Greece and globally. The museum also houses fossils dating back up to 400 million years.
Visitors can explore specimens from Greece, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, alongside coins, banknotes, photographs, and much more.
