The Church of St Mary Magdalene is quite impressive.
It's a church showcasing Russian architecture and style, complete with an ornate dome. The iconostasis features icons by the renowned painter Fotis Kontoglou.
Situated in Chania's Chalepa district, the construction of this church commenced in 1901, backed by the financial support of the Grand Duke of Russia, George, in remembrance of his wife Maria's time in Chania.
The church was inaugurated in 1903, and in May 1909, it was handed over to the Municipality of Chania.
