Agia Paraskevi Church in Hersonissos
ABOUT
In Hersonissos, the renowned tourist destination of Crete blending picturesque alleys with lively streets, you'll encounter the sacred Agia Paraskevi Church.
The church is nestled beneath a carved rock in Kastri, near the port of Hersonissos.
According to the Municipality of Hersonissos, the church was originally constructed in 1870, with an eastern extension added around 1930. In 1990, it received iconographic work, but tragically, in 1994, the church was ravaged by fire, resulting in the loss of its icons. The church features two entrances, one on the south side and another on the west, adjacent to an auxiliary chamber.
The church celebrates its feast day on 26th July and is conveniently accessible as it is situated along the coastal road of Hersonissos.
