Visit the festivities at Prinos Refuge, the mountain shelter of the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion. Perched above the village of Ano Asites at 1080m altitude, it offers stunning views to the east — over villages, mountains, the city, and the Heraklion bay.

Prinos Refuge will be open from December 23, 2025, to January 7, 2026. With its unique atmosphere, a hot "vrastari" stew, and a wood stove always lit, it warmly welcomes anyone looking to visit — for a day trip or an overnight stay.

Short hikes in the surrounding winter mountain landscape are the perfect way to stretch your legs and breathe in the clean, fresh mountain air.
