A beautiful and close-to-home hike is planned for Sunday, 26 October.
As described by the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos: “The hike will begin at the junction of the Katharo – Tapes road. We’ll start on a dirt road until we reach the old path that leads towards the Katharo Plateau. It’s a trail that’s less known and rarely walked — but it’s especially peaceful and scenic.
We’ll continue northeast, through the cypress forest, passing by the Englishman’s Cave. From there, we’ll head towards Brokos’ shepherd’s hut, crossing areas that were once cultivated with barley and forage.
Then we’ll pass the spot called Damakas and begin our descent, walking through Astividopo and Favetoprinos, following the old trail. The route will end where we started, with a spectacular view of the Gulf of Mirabello in the background.”
