Rethymno: Two Days Dedicated to World Tourism Day

The Municipality of Rethymno, through its Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Rethymno Hoteliers Association, is organising a two-day celebration for World Tourism Day, observed each year on September 27.

This year’s theme is “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The events highlight the region’s rich cultural and gastronomic traditions, along with the unique hospitality that Rethymno extends to its visitors.

As part of the celebrations, the Municipality of Rethymno will also continue its tradition of honouring repeat visitors who choose Rethymno again and again for their holidays.

Venue: Adelianos Kampos

  • Live music with Lefteris Tzagkarakis and his band

  • Traditional Cretan delicacies offered to guests

  • Performance by the Arkadi Dance Association

  • Free admission

Saturday, September 27, 2025 (Morning)
The Tour Guides Association will host a themed guided tour for honoured repeat visitors:
“In the footsteps of the renowned Greek author Pantelis Prevelakis, based on his novel The Tale of a Town (Το Χρονικό μιας Πολιτείας).”

After the tour, at the Queen’s Room, the Rethymno Catering & Entertainment Association will offer local delicacies and present a short film dedicated to the region’s gastronomic traditions.
