The Municipal Gallery of Malevizi, in co-organisation with the Municipality of Malevizi, is opening the exhibition “Permanent Collection – Donations”, dedicated to the memory of the Gallery's late first curator, Chrysa Vathianaki.
As part of the opening, on Friday, 31 July 2026, at 19:30, a room at the Municipal Gallery of Malevizi will be officially named “Chrysa Vathianaki Hall”, fulfilling the commitment made by Mayor of Malevizi Menelaos Bokeas to pay tribute to an artist who left a lasting mark on the Gallery's development and on the cultural life of the region.
The exhibition features works by contemporary artists that have been donated to the Gallery from its establishment to the present day, forming its permanent collection. The creation of this collection is the result of a long-term and meaningful effort, supported by people of knowledge, dedication and vision.
Among them, Chrysa Vathianaki played a decisive role in shaping the first core of the collection and in establishing the fundamental principles that continue to guide it. Her contribution now stands as a valuable legacy for the future.
The exhibition is the result of the systematic work of the Supervisory Committee of the Municipal Gallery of Malevizi and curator Eleni Sapountzi in recording, documenting and organising the donations that make up the Gallery's permanent collection.
The exhibition includes works by the following artists: Ioannis Athanasakis, † Chrysa Vathianaki, Margarita Vasilakou, Kostas Karnikis, Rafal Kochansky, Evdokia Kyrkou, Despoina Leventaki, Maria Maragkoudaki, Nektarios Marinos, Ioannis Monogyiou, Kostis Moudatsos, Jenny Bakalouma, Maria Benetaki, Lambrini Boviatsou, Kostas Pagomenos, Aristea Panagiotakopoulou, Giorgos Platakis, Nektarios Pachiadakis, Vasiliki Sofra, Giannis Stefanakis, Mairy Schina, Giannis Chalampalakis, Fotini Chamidieli and Ellen Weijers.
