In the Community of Kalidonia, Kolymbari, the Municipality of Platanias continues its well-received programme of hiking routes.
The Municipality of Platanias announces the continuation of this successful initiative, featuring trails that it has highlighted, signposted and maintained, across areas of historical and environmental interest.
The next hike is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 15:00, in the Community of Kalidonia, within the Municipal Unit of Kolymbari.
The starting point will be the former Primary School of Kalidonia, from where participants will follow an easy circular route of approximately 7 kilometres.
Along the way, hikers will pass through the picturesque settlement of Melissourgio, with its traditional fountain and narrow alleys, before ascending to a ridge offering panoramic views over the bays of Chania and Kissamos. There, they will encounter the chapel of Prophet Elias.
Descending from the ridge, the route continues through the settlement of Kamara, home to a restored Venetian fountain, renovated by the Municipality of Platanias, as well as the chapel of Agia Paraskevi.
Participants are advised to bring light clothing, suitable footwear and water.
The activity is organised in collaboration with the Women’s Association of Kalidonia and the Local Councillor, who will guide and host participants. The hike will also be accompanied, as always, by the Kissamos branch of the Hellenic Red Cross, ensuring health and safety coverage throughout the route.
