The popular initiative “Walking to Discover Our Land”, organized by the Municipality of Platanias in collaboration with local bodies, continues with great success and participation. The next hike will take place on Sunday, 18 May 2025, at 17:00, in the community of Drakona, Kolymbari.

The meeting point is the village square, where hikers will set off on an easy circular route of 3.6 kilometers. The path leads through a lush green landscape, along a rural road next to a stream, reaching the settlement of Gerakiana, with views over both the Chania Bay and the Kissamos Bay.

Along the way, hikers will encounter the chapels of Saint John the Theologian and Saint Barbara, featuring a traditional fountain that once supplied water to Gerakiana.

Light clothing, suitable shoes, and water are recommended. As always, the hikers will be accompanied by the local branch of the Red Cross of Kissamos to ensure their safety.
