On the weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of September 2025, all eyes turn to Agios Nikolaos, where one of Crete’s most thrilling events will take place: Cliff Diving Agios Nikolaos.

Elite international athletes will dive from heights of up to 20 metres, delivering an electrifying spectacle of strength, skill, and control. And it’s not just about the sport — the cultural and musical programme, including light and diving shows set against the dramatic backdrop of Lake Voulismeni, creates a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

The event is an initiative by the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, part of a broader effort to offer residents and visitors high-quality, world-class events — and to establish the town as a hub for international sports tourism.

This year’s edition is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Hellenic Swimming Federation, with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organisation and in collaboration with the Region of Crete.

What to Expect

• International Cliff Diving competitions with top-tier athletes

• A rich cultural programme including:

  • DJ show by Nick Devon

  • Piano recital by Veniamin Chatzikoumparoglou, with a synchronised light show on the cliffs

  • Percussion performance by “Vamos”

  • High-calibre Opera Gala by the “Opera of Kaminia”

  • Live concert by Paschalis

The Mayor’s Message

Mayor Manolis Menegakis highlights the event as a true celebration of both sport and Cretan culture, stating:
“Agios Nikolaos, with its stunning natural beauty and warm local hospitality, is ready to welcome athletes and visitors from around the world. Through the Cliff Diving event — a festive blend of sport and culture — we aim to position Agios Nikolaos as a prime destination for international sports tourism.”
