On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the Agios Nikolaos Mountaineering Club (EOS) is organizing a hike for its members at the foothills of the Dikti mountain range. As described in their announcement:

“We’ll start from Lakkos tis Ochras in Katharo, initially walking along the dry riverbed at the base of Lazaros. Then we’ll continue towards Makria Rachi, with views of the Lazaros and Spathi peaks, until we reach the ridge above the cliff that towers above Limnakaro, just beneath Spathi’s summit.
We’ll return via approximately the same route. This is a demanding route and is only suitable for experienced hikers, as it runs over rocky terrain with no clear path.”

Departure: from Agios Nikolaos (K. Karamanli 23, next to Vasilopoulos supermarket), on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m.
Transport: By private car. Please bring €7 for the driver.

Hike duration: approx. 5 hours (excluding necessary breaks)

Elevation gain: 630 m
Distance: 9 km
