The Barrel-Minded Cultural & Development Association of Gergeri, the Municipality of Gortyna and the Cultural Association of Gergeri invite you, on Clean Monday, 23 February 2026, to the Apokrigiómata in Gergeri.

This is a unique institution in Greece, reviving Dionysian customs with roots in antiquity. Expect reenactments of mysteries and rituals that echo the cycle of life, the history and the cultural identity of the place. There will be face-blackening, carnival and satirical performances such as: the bear dance, ploughing and sowing, a wedding, a funeral, flour-throwing, the donkey and the faskomilades of Nivritos, the soldiers and women soldiers, the Gypsy women and the chochlidioloi from Apomarma.

The events bring together the Cultural Associations of the Municipal Unit of Rouvas, local residents, members and friends of the associations, as well as any visitors who wish to take part.

The festivities begin at 11:30, along the main road of Gergeri.
