The Kazantzakis Museum presents the exhibition "ZORBAS: Words and Images", based on the graphic novel ZORBAS – prasino petra oraiotati by Soloύp, published by Dioptra Editions.
Through the perspective of Soloύp, life, love, death, as well as Kazantzakis' philosophical quests that engage in dialogue with Nietzsche, Buddha and Shakespeare, are redefined. The creator avoids the stereotypes of the cinematic Zorbas and proposes a new and bold narrative of words and images — a philosophical, grotesque and tragic journey, fully adapted to the contemporary reader.
The exhibition opening will take place as part of the ZORBAS Festival of Speech and Art on Friday, 31 July, at 18:30, at the Museum's "Kleopatra Prifti" Multipurpose Hall.

The exhibits and an important donation
The exhibition includes complete sections and artwork from the graphic novel, revealing to visitors the "secrets" behind its creation. The Museum galleries will also display original pencil-drawn pages, the final version of the script in two handwritten manuscripts as it evolved during the drawing process, as well as the storyboards of the book.
A special moment of the opening ceremony will be the formal donation of these valuable documents by Soloύp to the archives of the Kazantzakis Museum.
From Myrtia to Mexico
The reach of the exhibition extends beyond Greece's borders. As a continuation of the Museum's tribute, in the autumn of 2026, Soloύp and the graphic novel ZORBAS, following an official invitation from the Center for Art, Architecture and Design (CUADD) of the University of Guadalajara, in collaboration with the LEA Festival (Literature in Athens) and with the support of the Kazantzakis Museum, will travel to Mexico for presentations and lectures at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
This will also serve as an important showcase for Greek comics and for the contemporary and vibrant approach to the iconic novel by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Exhibition Curator: Antonis Nikolopoulos (Soloύp)
