The Cultural Association of Moni will once again launch its summer events with the revival of the traditional threshing process at Plakalona, on Sunday, 5 July 2026, at 6:00 pm.
Through this cultural event and its journey back in time, the Association aims to help older generations relive memories while giving younger visitors the chance to discover the traditional farming practices that sustained local communities for generations.
Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the traditional threshing process and see wheat being ground using a traditional hand mill. The event is jointly organised by the Cultural Association of Moni and the Municipality of Malevizi.
The women of the village will also prepare traditional xinochondros, which will be offered to everyone attending.
The organisers have also taken all necessary measures to ensure the welfare of the animal participating in the demonstration. A specialised veterinarian will be present throughout the event to provide continuous supervision and prevent any form of mistreatment, while all required legal permits for the animal's participation have been obtained.
