The Traditional Strata of the Municipality of Chania returns for its fifth consecutive year, filling the evenings and the narrow streets of the Old Town and the Venetian Harbour of Chania with tradition and vibrant energy.

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, at 20:00, the Chania Dance Group "Psiloritis" and the Chania Pontian Association "Romania" present "The Fraternal Strata of Crete and Pontus", a heartfelt gathering between Cretans and their Pontian brothers and sisters.

Two pillars of Greek identity and tradition come together, filling the Venetian Harbour and the Old Town with the sounds and colours of Crete and Pontus.

The Traditional Strata will begin at Neorio Moro. A stop will take place at Giali Tzami, while the final meeting point will be the square of the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (Metropolis) of Chania.

For yet another week, the members of the traditional associations will offer the thousands of visitors attending an experience drawn directly from the local traditions of the island.

The event will take place every Tuesday over the coming months, aiming to showcase the distinctive character of the region through its traditions, costume heritage, and the unique musical, dance and vocal talents of the members of the cultural associations.
