The first phase of the museum's renovation—which included the Reception Area and the Gift Shop—has been completed, and the museum is now open to the public!
Some of the exhibitions have been relocated, such as the giant Deinotherium and the “extreme” Dinosaurs, but the rest of the exhibits are still there, waiting to be explored.
Here’s what not to miss right now:

Did you know that mountain regions host nearly half of the world's biodiversity hotspots?
Explore the most iconic High Mountain Ecosystems of the Mediterranean. Journey from Mount Olympus and the mountains of Cyprus to the snow-covered Alps and discover how life adapts to these remarkable landscapes.
You can also wander through the Conifer Forests of Lebanon, southern Turkey and Bulgaria and get to know, among dozens of animal and plant species, the mysterious wildcat Lynx, the unique cedar of Lebanon, and the small hyrax—an unexpected relative of the elephant!
At the museum’s Research Zone, specially designed for children, you’ll discover micro-ecosystems of Crete and explore their unique features and quirks!
A visit to the Natural History Museum of Crete is a chance to travel through much of the Eastern Mediterranean in one building. It’s a reminder of the beauty and importance of nature—and of all the reasons we must protect it.
Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 09:00–17:00
Weekends: 10:00–18:00
Note: The museum’s Seismic Platform is being moved to a surprise new location inside the museum! The transfer is time-consuming, so the exhibit is currently unavailable.
