In August 2023, the Municipality of Sitia organised for the first time the preparation and serving of the largest Kakavia soup, achieving an official Guinness World Record.

The event was an outstanding success, placing Sitia on the list of the world’s greatest achievements and attracting significant publicity and visitors. More than 2,000 portions of Kakavia were served.

The revival of the event on 17 August 2025 will be the highlight of the summer for the town and the entire municipality, establishing it as the place capable of preparing the largest Kakavia.

We invite you to experience this unique event and savour the largest and most delicious Kakavia against the backdrop of the picturesque harbour of Sitia.

The process will be overseen by renowned chef Dina Nikolaou.
