In the Municipal Council Hall at Chania Town Hall, in the presence of the Mayor of Chania, Panagiotis Simandirakis, and the Mayor of Platanias, Giannis Malandrakis, a meeting of the technical and organising committee of the anniversary 10th Crete Marathon took place.

Also present at the meeting were, on behalf of the Region of Crete, Katerina Tzompanaki; the Deputy Mayor of Sports of the Municipality of Chania, Stelios Michailakis; the Deputy Mayor of Sports of the Municipality of Platanias, Stelios Dimitrogiannakis; representing the Municipality of Apokoronas, Stavros Stavroulakis; the Marathon’s Technical Director, Manos Grypakis; the President of the Chania Health Runners Association, Eleni Polychronaki; as well as members of the Association’s Board.

During the meeting, registration statistics for the Marathon were presented. As Mr Grypakis stressed, they show a 45% increase compared to the same period last year, breaking one record after another two months before the event, already reaching 382 participants.

According to Mr Grypakis, the anniversary 10th International Crete Marathon 2026 is expected to record historic participation and break all previous records, confirming its strong momentum as one of the leading sporting events in Greece.

The Anniversary 10th International Crete Marathon will take place on 19 April 2026 in Chania, while registrations will remain open until 9 April 2026.
