1. Karantale Gorge

The route starts from the village of Saitoures, in the Rethymno region, and follows a circular trail. After approximately 10 minutes on a dirt road, we descend into the gorge, which is particularly rich in vegetation and features several natural pools, making the hike cool and refreshing.

Along the way, we will come across an old watermill and a lime kiln. While inside the gorge, we walk along the riverbed, always under the shade of the dense tree cover. A large section of the route is completely new, having been recently opened.

The return to Saitoures follows a gently uphill dirt road. Once back at the village, we will board the bus and head to a nearby beach for a swim.

2. Nida – Psiloritis – Mygerou Basin

Sunday, 5 July 2026

Following the E4 European Trail from the Nida Plateau (1,370 m), we ascend to Timios Stavros (2,456 m), the highest peak in Crete. After enjoying the spectacular panoramic views, we continue along the trail and descend to Mygerou Basin (1,540 m).

Good physical condition is essential for this hike.
