Starting Monday, 28 July 2025, new municipal bus services will connect Agios Nikolaos with Neapoli and the Upper Mirabello communities. The initiative, part of the municipality’s effort to improve services for residents and visitors, builds on last year’s collaboration with KTEL Heraklion–Lasithi.

Three newly introduced lines will serve remote areas that previously lacked direct connections to each other or to the town centre. These include Milatos, Sissi, Vrachasi, Latsida, Voulismeni, Vryses, Choumeriako, Nikithianos, Limnes, Kastelli, Fourni, Dories and Karydi. The service aims to enhance mobility while reducing private car use, lowering environmental impact, improving road safety, and supporting economically vulnerable groups. Tickets are available through KTEL, with financial support from Agios Nikolaos Municipality. Services run through early September 2025.
