Another important step towards equal access to the beaches of the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos has been completed, with the installation of three new autonomous sea access systems (Seatrac) at the beaches of Ammos and Almyros in Agios Nikolaos, as well as at the central beach of Elounda.
The initiative was carried out by the Municipal Authority of Agios Nikolaos through the Municipal Public Company of Agios Nikolaos (D.A.E.A.N.), as part of its ongoing effort to improve accessibility and create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for People with Disabilities and individuals with mobility difficulties.
The project, with a total budget of €235,595, was fully funded through the programme “Improvement and Modification of Accessibility on Greek Beaches” under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

With the installation of the new Seatrac systems, even more residents and visitors with mobility impairments can now enjoy the sea with autonomy, safety and dignity, while also strengthening the social character and modern image of the municipality’s beaches.
It is worth noting that since 2024, a Seatrac system has already been operating at Kitroplateia beach, proving particularly valuable both for People with Disabilities and for their families and companions.
