The Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, through the Municipal Corporation of Agios Nikolaos (D.A.E.A.N.), is once again proving its commitment to social inclusion and accessibility. This summer, it has reactivated the Seatrac system at Kitroplatia Beach, following a successful season last year with 88 recorded uses.

The innovative mechanism enables people with disabilities or limited mobility to get in and out of the water on their own, safely and comfortably, without depending on others. It’s more than a tool—it’s an invitation for everyone to enjoy the sea, to feel welcome, to connect with others, and to relax. It's also a great support for families and caregivers, making a day at the beach easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

“This is what real accessibility looks like,” said Agios Nikolaos Mayor Manolis Menegakis. “The Seatrac reminds us all of our responsibility to remove every barrier. As a municipality, we strive every day for equal access and social inclusion at every level.”

Kitroplatia Beach now offers a complete set of accessible features, including:

  • Designated parking spaces for people with disabilities, right by the beach

  • A special access path leading to the Seatrac system

  • Adapted changing rooms, toilets, and showers

  • Umbrellas and seating areas designed for everyone’s comfort

The D.A.E.A.N. support team is always available to assist.

Even more promising, the municipality has already submitted a request to acquire three additional Seatrac units, aiming to expand accessibility across more beaches in the area and welcome even more visitors.
