The Municipality of Platanias announces the continuation of its successful series of hiking routes, taking place along trails that have been highlighted, signposted, and maintained by the Municipality, in areas of historical and environmental interest.
The next hiking route will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 14:15, in the Community of Kalyvonia, within the Municipal Unit of Kolymvari.
The starting point is set at the former Primary School of Kalyvonia, from where participants will follow a circular route of mild difficulty, with a total length of approximately 6 kilometres.
The route passes through the picturesque settlement of Melissourgio, known for its traditional fountain and charming narrow streets. The hike then continues uphill to the ridge, offering panoramic views over the bays of Chania and Kissamos.
During the hike, there will be a stop at the chapel of the Transfiguration of Christ, before the route continues towards the settlement of Kamara, where visitors will find the restored Venetian fountain, renovated by the Municipality of Platanias, as well as the chapel of Prophet Elias.
Participants are advised to bring light clothing, suitable footwear, and water.
The activity is organised in collaboration with the Women’s Association of Kalyvonia, which will guide and host participants. The hike will also be accompanied, as always, by the Kissamos branch of the Red Cross, ensuring medical support throughout.
