Just a short distance from Heraklion, wooded, small and easy, lush green and largely untouched by human activity, but above all beautiful and offering stunning views, lies the relatively unknown to most people Almyros Gorge, also known as Ellinoperamata Gorge, Agios Antonios Gorge or the Gorge of the Three Churches.

“One of the small hidden gems located on the outskirts of our city, which we will explore by crossing it, starting from the Keri Grove and ending at Lake Almyros, on our upcoming excursion,” state Dromoi Zois in their invitation.

A particularly impressive feature of the route is the bearded vultures (lammergeiers) that nest in the area.

It is a beautiful route suitable for both adults and children, including dirt roads, a riverbed, trail sections, as well as parts off-trail (nopath), which will make up our field of movement.

The only requirement is to secure a spot in time…

Our excursions take place in non-urban environments; therefore, appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for the terrain and the season are required.
