On Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos invites its financially active members, as well as those wishing to register, to join a pleasant and easy hike across the wider area of the Messara plain.

The route begins just outside the village of Roufas, following a dirt road towards the church of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, and continues through the abandoned villages of Apolychnos and Fari.

The hike then leads to the area of Paliama, where participants will visit the church of Agios Charalambos and admire its monumental olive trees. The walk concludes in the village of Moroni, where the bus will be waiting.

After the hike, there will be a stop at the taverna/café by the artificial lake “Digenis Lake”, near Gergeri.

This is an easy hike, with no elevation gain, taking place almost entirely along dirt roads.
