On Sunday 8 February 2026, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos, together with F.O.R.S. Siteia, is organising a walk through the stunning Mesonas Gorge.
The group says:
“The hike will start at the ancient olive tree of Kavousi. From there, we’ll walk briefly along the provincial road towards Panagia Protoseptemvriani and the archaeological site of Azorias. Then we’ll take the beautiful stone-paved trail that runs next to the concrete aqueduct, winding along the edge of the gorge until we reach the iron bridge.
From there we’ll continue towards the ruined village of Mylonies, and then take a dirt road and the E4 trail to the archaeological site of Kastro, before heading back to where we started.”

🕗 DEPARTURE:
From Agios Nikolaos, at 24 Karamanli Street (parking lot of S/M Vasilopoulos) at 8:00 AM on Sunday.
Transport by private car – passengers are kindly asked to contribute €5 to the driver.
For those coming from elsewhere, the hike will begin at 9:00 AM from the monumental olive tree of Kavousi.
