Adventure & Action

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos will explore the southeastern ridge of Ano Merampello, with panoramic views stretching from the Elounda Gulf all the way to the peaks of Thrypti.

As the organisers describe it:
“We’ll follow old trails leading us to the edge of the Katselios ridge in Agios Nikolaos. From there, we’ll take in sweeping views over the Spinalonga peninsula, the Elounda Gulf, and all the way to the edge of the Merampello Bay, with the Thrypti mountains in the distance. Hiking under the watchful eye of the area’s resident vultures, we’ll also visit the countryside chapel of Agios Georgios Kastellos. We’ll return to our starting point via rural paths that wind through the villages of Louma and Vrouchas.”
