The Municipality of Platanias, in co-organisation with the Region of Crete, local bodies and associations of the Municipal Unit of Mousouron, is organising the 8th Mousouron Run on Sunday, 27 September 2026, inviting children and adults, athletes, runners and all those who enjoy sport to take part in this major sporting celebration.
With the motto “We run together… for our place!”, the Mousouron Run has now become an important institution for the area, combining sport with the promotion of the natural beauty, landscape and villages of the inland area of the Municipality of Platanias.
Participants will have the opportunity to follow beautiful routes through the Mousouron area, discover the villages and natural environment of the hinterland and experience the distinctive character of the region.
5. The races
The event includes three different routes:
🏃 Half Marathon – 21 km
Start: 08:00 – Fournes
🏃 10 km Race
Start: 10:00 – Skines
🏃♀️ 4 km Race
Start: 10:15 – Fournes
The finish point for all routes will be in Meskla.
Race kit collection: Participants can collect their race kit:
- Friday, 25 September 2026, from 18:00 to 21:00, from the offices of S.D.Y.X., 4 Sfakion Street, 1st floor.
- Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 17:00 to 20:00, from the Mousouron Municipal Office in Alikianos (former Town Hall).
Free transport from Chania
For the convenience of participants, free KTEL buses will be available from Chania to the starting points.

📍 Departure from Chania KTEL:
➡️ 06:30 for the Half Marathon (21 km)
➡️ 08:15 for the 4 km & 10 km races
🔙 The return from Meskla to Chania will take place at 14:30.
The Municipality of Platanias invites everyone to take part in this major celebration of sport, either by choosing to run or walk the routes, while enjoying the unique natural landscape of the area.
Because at the Mousouron Run, it is not only the time that counts… what counts is the joy of being all together!
