Due to the forecast of very high temperatures in the area, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania has announced an emergency change to the opening hours of the Archaeological Site of Aptera on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

The archaeological site will close during the hottest part of the day. The last admission will be at 12:00, with the site reopening to visitors at 17:00.
