On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos is organizing an easy and pleasant hike, almost entirely through a pine forest.
“We’ll start from Prina and finish in Kroustas, mostly following old firebreak roads. We’ll then head up to Pentacheri, an area where locals tend their vineyards. Descending from its northwestern side, we’ll reach Kommenos Detis, a natural boundary between the two villages.
From there, we’ll pass through the Rethymnioti and Machidia areas, dominated by olive groves, and near the Haskousa cave, perched at the edge of a cliff.
Following a dirt track, we’ll move through more olive groves and pine forest, then descend alongside the Kalos Potamos (Anogeianos) and via an old cobbled path, we’ll reach Kroustas,” the Club describes in its invitation.
⏰ DEPARTURE: From Agios Nikolaos, at 24 Karamanli Street (parking lot of S/M Vassilopoulos), 8:00 AM on Sunday.
Transportation by private car. Please contribute €5 to your driver.
The route is not circular, so it’s best to notify the Club in advance via message, especially if you have a car or need a ride.
