Far away, in the eastern part of Crete, there is a small village called Oreino (or Orno, as locals call it), located between Ierapetra and Sitia. Dromoi Zois invite you to explore it on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

In their invitation, they mention the following:

“A beautiful gorge begins in the wider area.

With an impressive waterfall, trails through forested landscapes, dirt roads, chapels and ancient stone bridges, the route is considered a true nature experience. Beyond the striking red butterflies (which we rarely encounter — perhaps because we are usually quite a large group), the wider area still maintains flowing waters and waterfalls that surprise visitors, especially in one of the driest and warmest regions of the country.

A lovely small grove by the sea will be the place where we switch off and take time to relax.”
